Types of Fire Alarm Systems Covered
FRA Pro provides certification and maintenance for a range of fire alarm systems to suit both commercial and domestic properties.
Grade A Fire Alarm Systems – Commercial and Large Residences
Grade A systems are designed for commercial buildings or larger homes requiring comprehensive fire protection. These systems include:
Smoke detectors – Detect fire early by sensing smoke.
Heat detectors – Identify extreme temperature changes.
Manual call points – Allow occupants to trigger alarms manually.
Control panels – Operate and monitor the system.
Sounders – Alert everyone in the premises with loud alarms.
Grade A systems are often linked to a central control system and require regular maintenance to ensure optimum operation. They are ideal for high-occupancy buildings, providing early detection, fast warnings, and overall enhanced safety.
Grade D Fire Alarm Systems – Domestic Properties
Grade D systems are suitable for smaller homes and provide efficient, cost-effective protection. They typically include battery- or mains-powered smoke and heat alarms with a basic control device. These are simpler to install and maintain compared with Grade A systems.
Coverage Levels – LD2 and LD3:
LD2: Alarms are installed in every room, hallway, lounge, and kitchen. This ensures early detection in all areas, providing maximum safety, especially in homes with vulnerable residents or higher safety requirements.
LD3: Alarms are installed in primary escape routes only (hallway, lounge, kitchen). While effective for basic evacuation needs, it offers less comprehensive coverage than LD2 and is suitable for a more economical fire safety solution.
